Mayo Claiming Our Future Meeting

Our next meeting is being held on next Tuesday February 1st 2011.
Following on from suggestions from our last meeting, Karen, John, Chris and Kathleen have volunteered to plan and host Tuesday’s meeting. In order to facilitate a more participative meeting they have requested that we use a different venue on this occassion. Kathleen has arranged that we can use her work place - Ard Bhride, Castlebar and also that we start at 7.30 and wrap up before 10pm.
Directions are as follows —>The Lawn Road—> shortly after the roundabout at Duffy’s garage, entrance is on the left, the same entrance as for the nursing home Cuan Catriona. Follow the signs for Ard Bhride.

7:30 Chairperson opens meeting and explains that a smaller group were asked to facilitate this meeting with the aim of developing discussion within the group
7:35 John McDonagh introduces the small group and gives a quick run down of what is planned for the next 2 hours and what we hope to achieve
7:40 Movie begins
8:45 5 minute feedback about video
8:50 John introduces a 5 minute reflection time whilst individuals think about how they would like to claim their future, bearing in mind the discussion to follow after.
8:55 Chris and Karen split the larger group into smaller groups of 3 to discuss among themselves what their thoughts are. 6/7 minutes for discussion 4/3 minutes to finalise thoughts and write them down, the aim of which is to decide on 3 to 4 main points.
9:10 Each group calls out what they have recorded and sticks their sheet of paper to the wall near our flip chart.
9:15 A larger group discussion to be facilitated by Chris and Karen with the help of Kathleen. The group is asked to look at each others comments and thoughts and discuss what common themes there are if any. The Aim of this is to hopefully identify 3/4 key aims, goals or ways with how we as a group or even as an individual can claim our future. Hopefully this will give us guidance to continue with the project.
9.55 Bring the discussion to a close and review what we have written down.
