  1. I'd agree with Portugal, but they didn't decriminalise the supply of drugs did they?

  2. No I haven't, and by the way, I'm in favour of banning tobacco. I think it would need more research before we could legalise hash.

No, I think hash has negative effects and shouldn't be legalised. Maybe for medical use, but not as a recreational drug.
Hash is addictive, and legalising it will only make something else the government will have to run quit campaigns for.

  4. Washington also kept slaves,

  5. I think the best option is for people who can't pay their mortgage to have their house transferred into a social housing scheme, where they would pay a reasonable rent to the state and maybe gradually take ownership of the house. But I do agree, the banks should take some kind of hit.

  6. @Kim, do you have links to the research?

  7. I would agree, but the point should be made that not all these estates are suitable for making new communities. This idea should coincide with work to build schools, shops and community centres so these estates are actual communities.

  8. This would remove the economic incentive for criminal gangs, but we shouldn't presume it's safe. I'm open to correction, but I believe we don't have enough data to say that it's completely safe, so we can't just legalise it and forget about it. I think this needs a lot more research. I do believe prosecuting people for small amounts of possession is a waist of police resources, and the war on drugs doesn't work.

  1. I disagree with this, we should have a more integrated transport system, but it needs to be funded, and making it free won't work.

  1. Totally agree with a financial transaction tax. This needs to be brought in internationality otherwise it won't work.

We need to make sure property taxes work in the context of the current recession and negative equity. Also, what do you think of stamp duty?
