Sign the EU Petition for a Financial Transaction Tax: All over Europe almost 800,000 supporters of the Financial Transaction Tax have signed a petition in support of its introduction. We are aiming for 1 Million.

Join the 750,000+ people that have called for a Financial Transaction Tax to help fight poverty and tackle climate change by signing our Million Strong petition (to the right).

This year, after years of campaigning, Finance Ministers from 11 EU countries finally agreed a concrete timeline to implement a financial transactions tax that could raise revenue for fighting poverty. While Ireland is not among the 11 countries, Claiming our Future is campaigning for Ireland to join them as soon as possible.

At the same time we need to make sure that the revenues raised by the tax will be allocated to tackle climate change and fight poverty. European governments implementing a financial transaction tax must listen to the over 750,000 people that have called for a Financial Transaction Tax to help that the states commit to allocate the revenues raised to tackle climate change and fight poverty.

MORE ACTIONS

Let’s take action and challenge the Irish Governments decision NOT to join the other 11 EU countries in the Enhanced Cooperation Procedure to introduce a Financial Transaction Tax. More background here

We call on the Irish Government to:

1. Join the EU ‘enhanced cooperation procedure’ initiative of Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Austria, Portugal, Slovenia and Slovakia to introduce a Financial Transactions Tax.

2. Lend Ireland’s support to moves to introduce a Financial Transactions Tax globally.
